Why Nigerians Blame Government

The kidnapping and threat to sell our girls into slavery has outraged the world. However, Nigerians have directed much of their anger at the Federal Government. There’s been a clear breakdown in trust between the government and the people. Here are 5 likely reasons why.

  1. 1) Misleading the public

  2. Too often the public were given information which turned out to be false. On the number of rescued girls…
  3. Claiming to lead the public protests but ordering arrests of protesters and Chibok girls' mothers
  4. [Highlights] “I do not mind being shot as long as they return our girls to us safely … ” – Patience Jonathan #BringBackOurGirls
  5. On my way to the police station to meet arrested #Chibok mothers. Families say they were arrested for protesting #BringBackOurGirls #Nigeria
  6. On international assistance requested….

  11. On the negotiator….
  12. 2) An unsympathetic attitude

  13. The presidency did not appreciate the national and global disgust at the abduction. The president was celebrating publicly at political rallies and birthday celebrations.

  17. Determined avoiding criticising GEJ today but his insenstive cancelation of FEC to mourn with Sambo Speaks Volume. #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS
  18. 3) Hostility towards victims and state officials

  24. 5) Failing the most basic duty of care

  25. "Security and welfare is the primary purpose of govenment." - Nigerian Constitution. Chapter II (14)(2)(b)
  26. Despite the global outcry, as of Thursday 8th of May, no member of the Federal Government has gone to Chibok to visit the community.
  27. Failing to provide security, and neglecting the welfare of the community even the president is more concerned with hiw own safety than the safety of those he swore to protect.
